Mark 4 is the parable of the sower. The sower sows seeds but has different results based on the soil. The soil represents our hearts. The hardened heart refuses to accept. Doesn’t try to understand. The shallow heart has no roots. Their commitment was emotionally based. Superficial. Drop out at the first discouragement. The crowded heart allows thorns and weeds to choke out the life. Full of worry and anxiety. Enticement to material possibilities of wealth and pleasure. Intense desire for something more. Hard to see difference between flowers and weeds. Restlessness from insecurity and alienation that demands satisfaction.
The good heart – growth increases and fruit is produced.
A good heart has the Holy Spirit as the heartbeat.
