I can’t quit thinking about the girl, Katie, who called in to WDJC the other day and said she is being bullied.
Katie,
Isaiah 43:4 states, “Because you are precious in my eyes, and honored, and I love you” and Psalm 139:14 states, “I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.” God made you in His perfect way and has a purpose for your life. He knows we are not perfect, yet loves us perfectly & wonderfully! Have you ever heard “hurting people, hurt people”? Those people that hurt you are obviously hurting and searching. Even at 43 years old, I had someone do things that were very hurtful to me just this year. I refuse to list it and give them the satisfaction, but I say to you I understand how it feels to have someone being cruel. You have every right to feel hurt when someone is mean to you, but don’t let it stop you from being that wonderful person God created you to be. I learned many years ago that in many ways I was an ugly caterpillar, and sadly the caterpillar is traveling on rocky ground with many creepy creatures. BUT God continues to weave His precious cocoon of protection and love around me to shield me from the sins of those creatures, allowing me to feel the pain in order to need Him rather than others for my fulfillment, and enabling me to grow into the beautiful butterfly He created. God’s plan is not for any of us to suffer, but to fly in freedom of all the cruelty from others. If anyone knows bullies, it is Jesus. Jesus was tortured and humiliated. He understands. He understands the pain and wants to love you through it. When we endure these trials of life one day we can help someone by saying “I understand.” Maya Angelou said, “I can be changed by what happens to me. But I refuse to be reduced by it.” She also says, “We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty.” Allow yourself to change for the better because of this pain. Refuse to be reduced by their nonsense! Stand tall, look in the mirror and say “I am precious in God’s eyes, I am honored by God, and He loves me!!” Get help and find someone you can talk to about this please. Katie, many people were very concerned about you and we are on your side! The city of Birmingham loves you Katie!
A Friend to You!
