Happy Birthday Aunt Gladys.
We miss her laughter, crazy sense of humor, funny laugh, and caramel popcorn already.
I already miss her at holidays and the way she called me Darlin.
Her birthday is today…93.
My mom gave her a party Sunday and hired Elvis to sing to her, but she didn’t make it.
Instead, she chose to celebrate with the true King…Jesus.
She went home yesterday to prepare for her birthday.
A fine feast she planned, which included peas, okra, corn, and cornbread.
She taught many new friends dance steps only she can truly can do to perfection.
She chose a colorful silk dress and pearl earrings.
She looked up old friends.
She found her sweetheart, Lawrence and asked him to be her dance partner for eternity.
Tonight they celebrate among the angels and in the splendor of Light shining from the Holy throne.
I hear her laugh and a small tear crosses my cheek.
Tears of gladness that her joy will continue in heaven.
Tears of sadness that our joy will be lessened by her absence.
Sweet Granny mourns for you, Aunt Gladys, her sister and law and friend for 78 years…and so do we.
We love you.
