Cotton Candy and Persimmons

If all the world were sweetness
It would melt in one big puddle of goo
Never knowing what exactly was stuck
To the bottom of a shoe

If everything occured nicely according to our clocks
We would never know the secrets the keys sometimes unlock
The suffering hurts so deeply that its hard to understand
How possibly this could all be part of a greater plan

Because of the hate, we appreciate the love
Because of sorrow, we send prayers to Him above
Because of the trials, we grow stronger and can give
The comfort we are given so that others may live
So be thankful for the cotton candy and let persimmons make you smile
They both work together to carry you down the next long mile

We have a Blessing Box at Osborne Orthodontics, and I have one at home.  As we experience blessings throughout the year, they are placed in the Blessing Box.

The Blessing Box includes: our challenges and struggles, accomplishments and successes, the funny, crazy, silly things we do, quotes, Scripture,  and the miracles Jesus continues to pour into our lives.

At our Christmas party each year, we read all of the entries in the box.  We rejoice in God’s blessings, laugh at ourselves (alot), and connect in love and strength.

The Blessing Box reminds us to “Count it all joy, my brothers when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.  And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing” (James 1:2-4, ESV).

Try the Blessing Box in your office or home…I promise you will be blessed as you rejoice with God as He works in your life.

He is working. It is our responsibility to acknowledge Him.

He who can give thanks for little
will always find he has enough.
