It is very interesting to me that in Ecclesiastes 3 we are told that for everything there is a season…and in verse 7 “A time to tear and a time to mend. A time to be quiet and a time to speak.” Being quiet and mending are grouped together. It is in listening to God that we are able to grow, stay on the right path, and that includes mending broken hearts, battered souls, and damaged relationships. If we listen and hear what God has to say about receiving and giving his love, then the mending of our relationship with Him and others begins. When we spend all of our time talking rather than listening, we end up focused on ourselves instead of hearing what others feel and need. We end up possibly missing it when someone is trying to say I love you, I need you, or I am here. “There is a time to tear and a time to mend. A time to be quiet and a time to speak.”
Listen. Hear. Mend.
