Unveiled and Untangled includes writings from my heart along my journey. At a young age, we begin to wear veils that hide the beauty God created in us, and our lives become tangled in the webs of the world and in the fears of judgment and the unknown. Writing helps me to experience who I am underneath this veil, helps me to cope, to focus on God’s purpose for my life, and to focus on hope for the moment I am in and the future.
My life experiences include challenges, but I have learned to build a coping toolkit to help process through challenges and circumstances. Building your own personal coping toolkit to have what you need, when you need it, is vital to processing emotions and moving forward. My interactive presentations and workshops teach about building a coping toolkit and what to consider including. Each individual’s toolkit will be different than another’s.
I believe that God has a purpose for us, and I was taught this after surviving when I did not breathe for 11 minutes at birth. In addition to serving as a chaplain in healthcare, I also volunteer in children’s ministry at church and have for 40 years. My hope is that children grow up knowing they have a purpose and building their own coping toolkits along the journey. I also volunteer with a senior women’s organization, also to encourage that we have a purpose at all ages. No matter our ages, we can give love to others.
This blog includes stories about the blessings in my life, poems, devotions, and hopefully a little bit of joy for everyone. As a board-certified chaplain, I support people of all faiths and offer safe space for processing and sharing. Whether you believe as I do or not, I hope you will find something in my writings to offer you an idea for coping or peace along your own journey.

Kim, you are an inspiration, for I know enough about the challenges you have faced to know that you have had “real” pain and suffering in your life, yet you let your light shine so brightly with your joy. Thank you for being my friend, for now and always. Lana
